We are a Japanese animation studio, considered by specialized critics and many moviegoers as one of the best animation studios in the world today. Six of our films are among the top 10 grossing anime films made in Japan, four have won the Japan Academy Award for Animation of the Year, five have received Oscar nominations, and many others of our work have won the Animage Anime Award Grand Prix

The studio was founded on June 15, 1985 by directors Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata and producer Toshio Suzuki y and is directed by award-winning director Hayao Miyazaki, and until 2018 was directed by Miyazaki alongside his friend and mentor, Isao Takahata, who passed away that year.
